This is a model of summary financial statements and contains five interelated section:
1. Monthly P&L
2. YTP & Cummulative P&L summary
3. Summary Balance Sheet : Assets
4. Summary Balance sheet : Liabilities and Equity
5. Sources and uses of funds statement
The content follows GAAP convention except that it shows the flow of values rather than lay them out in a standard column format. It is meant to provide an example of how a model can be put togther using DS Lab. It is not meant to be a definitive model for financial statements.
Items in this model of particular interest to the user are:
1. The way YTD and Cummulative summaries can be prepared fron shadows.
2. The way debt is used as a plug figure for the balance sheet.
3. The way interest is calculated based on prior step debt values to avoid circular references.
4. Caution should be used when looking at depreciation. The script is very approxiamte in that it does not take into account the life of each individual addition to P.P. &E. nor any final ammortisation which may be less than the specified percentage.
